Flotterstone Facilities (Pentland Way)

Hospitality

The Pentland Hills Café Express is more than a café. Alex (the lively Italian chef) and his wife Laura have taken over the old Flotterstone Visitor Centre where there are toilets, visitor information, Pentland Hills maps and weather forecast postings. The café serves home- made soups, panini snacks, cakes and scones and bacon rolls throughout the day. The café is open Thursday to Monday 10 – 5pm throughout the year. (01968 670533. It’s also on FB and Twitter)

The Flotterstone Inn is a traditional pub offering a comfortable welcome, real ales including Stewart’s Pentlands IPA and nourishing food from 1200 till late. There is a large beer garden to the rear. (01968 673717).

A public access defibrillator is available at the inn.

Travel / Access

A medium sized car park provided by the Pentland Hills Regional Park is invariably busy – at the time of writing there is an honesty box to receive donations for parking, but there are plans afoot to expand the car park, space permitting, and introduce controlled, chargeable parking.

The bus shelter is on the main road some 90 metres from the entrance to Flotterstone and offers an hourly Houston Coaches bus service between Edinburgh and Biggar.
